Recently the self-proclaimed champion of Maharashtrians and their Hindu counterparts published in his political mouthpiece that we (he has authority to talk on our behalf) need to have Hindu suicide bombers who can emulate the Islamic fundamentalists, as if their ideas are worth imitation.
I really don’t know why people are such big fools; otherwise his party would never have won any election. People are most vocal whenever they hear any news of bomb blast; the eternal-enemy Muslims are always there to take blame. But when they see any kind of violence from their-religion organization, they just don’t understand the news. The poor Muslims can’t even speak here even after being a part of this country because then they will be blamed also for hurting the religious feelings of always-tolerant-secular Hindus. When mosques are attacked they are told that Bangladeshis are behind those bangs; but when any Hindu is on the receiving end then it is a religious fight.
Further the Tiger believes that recent bomb blasts done by his kind of thinking people, who were outraged by a play, which insulted Hindu-gods, was not wrong or illegal but stupid. According to him they should have fitted bomb in such a way that only Muslims have got hurt, which sadly is not the case. So moral of the article is that building or exploding bomb is not bad but killing Hindus by that is. Among all this Muslims are of course supposed to follow law and never even utter any kind of criticism of such remarks as that will prove them to be anti-Indian in the never ending test of patriotism.
Where does all this leads to? Nowhere but towards hatred and violence in the society, the plural society which we smugly enjoy. People are perfect in remembering what they want to remember. So they will continue criticizing the other community whenever they will get a chance, but will prefer to forget the important contribution by the other communities. Fundamentalists are expert in exploiting the hurt emotions and we can very well understand where all this is leading us to.
The present tirade is not something new. We have read, unfortunately, many such non-senses; but what is most stultifying is that nothing has been done to stop such obscene things from appearing in society. Government always has the excuse of law and order; but I really don’t understand why people don’t break law and order when government doesn’t do anything against such people who are just funding the violence and apprehension in the society.
